ABSTRACT

Blended teaching method has become an important part of the educational reform. Massive open online courses (MOOC) combined with flipped classroom in pediatrics education consists of online courses, flipped classroom and online communication. Students are promoted to engage in education actively through the online homework, tests, discussions and examinations, thus reaching the best teaching effect. This paper aims to introduce the establishment and accomplishments of this blended teaching method in Pediatrics education in Fudan University.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the effect of different teaching modes in medical students′education of cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR)skills. Methods:One hundred and fifty college students were randomly allocated to classroom teaching group(G1=50), problem-based learning(PBL)group(G2=50) and computer-based teaching group(G3=50)from March to December in 2019.The students′acquisition and retention of theoretical knowledge and skills were assessed before(baseline)and after the teaching(immediately), then 2 months and 6 months later. Results:One hundred and fifty college students participated in the study.Among them, 84(56.0%)were male, with an average age of 23 years old.Sixteen students(10.7%)had participated in similar CPR training. There was no significant statistical difference in the demographic characteristics of students among three groups. At four time points including baseline, after teaching(immediately), 2 months and 6 months later, there was no significant difference in the theoretical examination results among three groups( P>0.05). But after teaching, the scores of each group were improved. At the second time point(after teaching immediately), each group had the highest scores( P<0.05). Compared the scores of the second point, the ones of the third time point(2 months later after teaching)and the fourth time point(6 months later after teaching)decreased, but there was no significant difference between the two time points( P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the pass rates of skill exam at the time point of baseline among three groups( P>0.05). The pass rates of G2 and G3 were significantly higher than those of G1 at 2 and 6 months later after teaching( P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between two groups. After teaching, the passing rate of each group was significantly higher than that of the baseline, and there were significant differences in the passing rates of any other time points after teaching, with the passing rate decreasing.Students′ feedback showed that all of them could clearly understand the teaching objective and accept the difficulty of the course, and PBL and computer teaching modes were more acceptable. Conclusion:PBL and computer-based teaching modes have better learning effectiveness and acceptance, which can be used as supplemental training to conventional classroom teaching or as strategies to consolidate learning. Two months may be the time point for retraining.

ABSTRACT

In 2013, Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University restarted the enrollment of the undergraduate students in directional pediatrics. To cultivate medical talents in pediatrics, a serious of educational innovations and practices have been carried out guided by competency training, including training a team of teachers with simulated teaching skills and establishing a teaching platform for simulation teaching. Medical students can practice medicine and gain experience through the risk-free simulated scenarios, that is helpful to enhance their confidence in clinical skills and communications and decrease medical errors in their future careers.

ABSTRACT

Refresher training is the most important ways of continuing medical education. This paper introduces the training situation of refresher doctors of Children's Hospital of Fudan University by distribution of professional title, education departments and experience in training. We have sum-marized the management mode of refresher doctors from such aspects as the entrance management, pre-job training, authorization to work, strengthening clinical practice to expand knowledge, clinical research training, self-learning ability improvement, strengthening emotional communication, humani-zation management, emotional bonds establishment and creation of a follow-up development environment.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The demand of new rural cooperative medical system in Jiangsu province of the quantitative research is analyzed. Methods: To analyze cross-sectional data in 2011 statistical yearbook of Jiangsu province and China Statistical yearbook by using Extend Linear Expenditure System ( ELES) Model. Results: The farmers of Jiangsu for medical need a lower tendency and middle-income households below the expenditure on basic medical needs. In the premise of the farmers’ live, increase the income of medical and the demand will increase too. Conclusion:It needs to carry out effective propaganda work, improve the level of financing of the new rural cooperative medical system, implement the reform of the medical system.

ABSTRACT

VP1, a capsid protein of swine vesicular disease virus, was cloned from the SVDV HK/70 strain and inserted into retroviral vector pBABE puro, and expressed in PK15 cells by an retroviral expression system. The ability of the VP1 protein to induce an immune response was then evaluated in guinea pigs. Western blot and ELISA results indicated that the VP1 protein can be recognized by SVDV positive serum, Furthermore,anti-SVDV specific antibodies and lymphocyte proliferation were elicited and increased by VP1 protein after vaccination. These results encourage further work towards the development of a vaccine against SVDV infection.

ABSTRACT

To gain a better understanding of the genetic diversity and evolution of PRRSV in the Ningxia Hui Nationality Autonomous Region (Ningxia) of China, the nsp2 genes from a series of PRRSV strains collected from the region in 2007 were partially sequenced. These sequences were then analyzed along with the classical strain (ch-la) and two other epidemic strains SD (3) and SD2006. Comparison of the nucleotide sequence with ch-la indicated that nsp2 genes of seventeen Ningxia isolates (NX strain) have deletions of 87 nucleotides. Sequence analysis indicated that homology between the Ningxia strain and ch-la was 60.3%-79.9% in the nucleotide sequence, and homology between the NX strains and SD strains was 80.3%-98.8% in the nucleotide sequence. The nsp2 genes of the seventeen isolates had 74.9%-100% nucleotide sequence identities with each other. This study was undertaken to assess the regional variation of prevalent PRRSV and to establish a sequence database for PRRSV molecular epidemiological studies.

ABSTRACT

E2 is an envelope glycoprotein of Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) and contains sequential neutralizing epitopes to induce virus-neutralizing antibodies and mount protective immunity in the natural host. In this study, four antigen domains (ABCD) of the E2 gene was cloned from CSFV Shimen strain into the retroviral vector pBABE puro and expressed in eukaryotic cell (PK15) by an retroviral gene expression system, and the activity of recombinant E2 protein to induce immune responses was evaluated in rabbits. The results indicated that recombinant E2 protein can be recognized by fluorescence antibodies of CSFV and CSFV positive serum (Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Lanzhou, China) using Western blot, indirect immunofluorescence antibody test (IFAT) and ELISA, Furthermore, anti-CSFV specific antibodies and lymphocyte proliferation were elicited and increased by recombinant protein after vaccination. In the challenge test, all of rabbits vaccinated with recombinant protein and Chinese vaccine strain (C-strain) were fully protected from a rabbit spleen virus challenge. These results indicated that a retroviral-based epitope-vaccine carrying the major antigen domains of E2 is able to induce high level of epitope-specific antibodies and exhibits similar protective capability with that induced by the C-strain, and encourages further work towards the development of a vaccine against CSFV infection.
